Food Critic

While Kelsey was making dinner, Samuel said, “Hey, can we eat pasta instead of that?!” This is from our 5-year old food critic, whose favorite food is grilled-cheese sandwiches.

Voting and chicken nuggets

We decided to vote early to avoid the lines next Tuesday. We took the boys with us and told them that we would get some chicken nuggets to eat if they were good while we voted. The early voting was at a local credit union where they had electronic voting machines. Samuel was intrigued by the touch screen on the electronic voting machine as I tapped to vote. Samuel excitedly asked me, “What do these things do?” After I completed selecting the individuals, I let Samuel push the green button on the screen to submit the voting. He was so excited watching it print off the stub and that he got to help. Everything else went off without a hitch. Then on our way out of the door, Isaac says “This place doesn’t have chicken nuggets.” Very true. I think he expected that we would vote and the poll workers would give us chicken nuggets. I think he may have stumbled onto a way to increase the voting turnout. Vote and get chicken nuggets. Genius.

“Best Ones” and Samuel Photobomb

When Isaac was getting ready for bed he picked out his flannel, John Deere tractor pajamas made by his Meemie Roberts. He marched around proclaiming, “These are my best ones!” Kelsey thought that was funny, and got out the camera to send a picture to Meemie.

She barely got one picture taken before Samuel intentionally photobomed the next one. His trick kept him giggling for a good bit afterward.

New Batman Villain

We were reading a Batman book to the boys and got to a place where it shows the villain, the Joker. The conversation goes as follows:
Me: The Joker
Isaac: The Yogurt?
Me: No, the Joker
Samuel: The Junker?
Me: No, the Joker
Isaac: The Yogurt?
Me: No, the Joker
Samuel: The Junker?
After going through this several more times I gave up. So now there is a new villain in the Batman universe. Depends on what they say but it is somewhere between the Yogurt or the Junker. Take your pick.

Samuel Playing Soccer

This is Samuel’s first year to play soccer. For 4 to 5-year old kids, it is a very simple game. Mob of kids running around and kicking a ball. That’s it. If they kick it in the right direction, even better. Samuel is the one with the bright yellow shin guards.

“Puff paste or butt face”

I got the following text from Kelsey while at work. Maybe I’m too childish because I died laughing. Where does Isaac come up with these things?

Video Game Gene

I got the following text from Kelsey about Samuel and video games.

As you can tell, Samuel was very proud of his video game accomplishments and making sure I knew. This confirms that there is a video game gene and it got passed down to Samuel. At least I now have someone to play video games with. 😉

A New Day of the Week

Here is a conversation between Kelsey and Samuel.

Samuel: “I want to watch the Lorax movie.”
Kelsey: “Not today. It’s Sunday”
Samuel: “No it’s not. Today is Moonday.”

Samuel figured the opposite of “Sun”day had to be “Moon”day. Funny boy.

Superheroes

Recently, Samuel and Isaac have become obsessed with superheroes. As they play pretend, usually they choose the following characters: Samuel as Spider-Man and Isaac as Iron Man. I’ve been told that I’m the Hulk.

While I was at work, Kelsey sent me the following text messages about the boys being superheroes.

Boys are playing superheroes and Legos:
Samuel: “I’ll control the universe!”
Isaac: “You can’t control the universe – it’s mine!”
Hahaha

Isaac: “Mom, my sandwich is shawarma.”
LOL!
I guess you can tell we watched Avengers today.

Here are some pictures showing them pretending to be superheroes. For Easter, Isaac got an Iron Man mask and Samuel got a Spider-Man mask. The boys loved them.
